Lest We Forget (1)Welcome, Brothers and Sisters in Arms

This page, which is continually being updated, is dedicated to those who’ve served. As a proud British Army Veteran myself, I created this space not just to share my story, but to offer something meaningful, a quiet salute, a shared truth, and AI generated art that speaks where words often fail me.

Whether you’re still wearing the uniform or long retired, this page is for you.

My Journey

I served in the British Army with pride, loyalty to Queen and Country, and an unwavering belief in the flag I served under. But like many of us, life after service wasn’t that simple. For a start no one told me how to adjust to civilian life when leaving, or how to turn off that ‘switch’ in my head they welded in the ‘on’ position. Once I had paid £200 (I PVR’d) no one was interested, and I did all the things I had to do, waiting for the day when I flew home from Northern Ireland for the last time.

Art and mental healthAfter leaving I started a family, got a job, and tried to build a new life in civvie street. But in 2007, everything came crashing down. Between 2007 and late 2010 I battled homelessness, living in another country, even more homelessness, all the while dealing with what turned out to be mental health issues like PTSD, depression, anxiety, anger issues, and voices. Coupled with physical pain that was also attributed to my service, the struggle lives with me daily, some days it’s difficult just to switch on my computer, let alone create something, either a zine or wallart.

And yet through the haze I unexpectedly found a spark again, creativity. If you knew me then you would know that ‘I don’t do art,’ but something just clicked when I started using AI. AI generated art became a way to express what I couldn’t say out aloud. My work is emotional, surreal, often symbolic but always grounded in lived experience.

This is where my healing began. Its not foolproof, but I try everyday to overcome my issues and create something I’m proud of.

A Message to Every Veteran

If you’ve served, you already understand. The pride, the pain, the memories, the camaraderie. You might be thriving, you might be struggling — but know this:

You Are NOT Alone.

This space exists for you.
